Doogh| Persian Diluted Yogurt Drink
Doogh is a traditional healthy drink that is an inseparable member of Persian cuisine. This drink was first used in 1300 BC in Middle East and soon after that, it reached Eastern Europe and that was when people in central Europe showed their interest in this pleasing, hale and hearty drink.
It is always recommended by the old fellas that Doogh is effective in decreasing stress and insomnia. In traditional medicine, this yoghourt drink is advised to stand as a home remedy for diarrhea, especially for kids. Doogh is a fermentative white colored drink which has its distinguished taste. Doogh is used in making Abdoogh Khiar.
Persian Doogh Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 liter milk
- 2 liter water
- ½ tbsp salt
- ¼ tbsp sugar
- 5 tbsp yogurt
Instructions
- Mix half of the milk with water in a pot or an autoclave on the oven. Warm the liquid but do not let it boil.
- Now add the yoghourt to the sugar and salt and mix them all with the remaining milk and water in a bowl.
- Combine the bowl and the pot together and swirl them well 2-3 minutes.
- It is important in the end to pour the syrup into a bottle and pack it, in this moment stir the bottle well.
- Now put it aside in a warm place for 3-4 days.
Helping Tips
- Don’t drink a large amount of Doogh before driving a car at night because it will lower your consciousness.
- You can pour dried spearmint to your Doogh just before serving, it will taste wonderful.
- If you want your Doogh to be prepared sooner than usual, put it next to a warmer or in contact of direct sunlight after packing.
- Remember you can omit sugar from the recipe if you want the sour tasted Doogh.
- Before drinking you can also add some sugar to your mug, they taste sour fizzy with each other.
- It’s better not to serve Doogh with meals that contain meat because dairy products mustn’t be eaten with fleshy products.
- Be careful while unpacking the bottle, your beverage hold so much fizz.
- You can pour some shallot powder to your Drink pot, it taste abnormally delicious.
- People who are dealing with anemia or iron deficiency anemia, shouldn’t drink Doogh after their dinner for at least one hour.
- Stir your doogh pot well with a spoon before serving in your mug.
- 11-If you want to prepare Doogh for some kind of party or in large amount, pack it one week before to become ripe completely.
- Your drink’s quality only correlate with yoghourt’s quality and density.
- You can add some vegetables essence to your Drink if you like the flavor.
- Serving Doogh is not recommended to frigid people, because it will enlarge their problems.
- If you catch cold, drink Doogh because it is proved that Doogh will enhance your immune system.
- People who work in warm places and in front of directs sunlight are recommended to drink Doogh a lot especially in summer.
