Sosis Bandari or Persian sausage with potatoes is one of the Iranian sandwiches that belongs to the southern regions. It’s considered as a semi-urgent port food.

The main port sausage is made with a combination of sausage, onion and flavorings, but some restaurants use other Food stuffs in addition to these ingredients, such as mushrooms and sliced cheese.

Persian sausage served as a hot sandwich. This sandwich is usually served with sandwich bread like baguettes, hot sauce and salad. Persian spicy sausage and potatoes is very popular among fast food dishes and it can be boldly said that it is one of the most delicious fast foods or street foods in Iran.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 to 400 grams chopped sausage
  • 2 Potatoes (medium)
  • 2 Onions (medium)
  • 1 Green bell pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  •  Salt, red pepper and turmeric (as much as required)
  • oil (as much as required)

Instructions
 

  • To prepare this food, at first you need to chop potatoes into small cubes and boil them separately in a pan until they are slightly cooked.
  • First of all, Place the frying pan on the stove to heat slightly. Then, pour some liquid oil in it to heat.
  • Add your chopped sausages to the pan and fry until it turns light brown. After that, put them on a separate plate.
  • Cut your onions into thin strips.
  • Then fry the chopped onions in oil until golden.
  • At this stage, you can add some turmeric to the onions and fry it a little so that it does not smell raw.
  • Also add 2 tablespoon of tomato paste and fry them a little.
  • Put the mixture of fried onions and tomato paste in a separate bowl.
  • Now it's time for the potatoes. Add the cooked potato cubes to the pan and fry them.
  • In this step, add the fried potatoes to the mixture of onions and tomato paste. Afterward, stir until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Add some red pepper and salt (according to your taste) to it while mixing.
  • You can serve this dish with pickles, fresh parsley and olives. You can also put it in Sandwich bread with ketchup sauce and pickles.

Important points in cooking Sosis Bandari

  • Curry spice is one of the spices that is added to port sausage to give a wonderful taste to this food. If you like, you can also add some curry seasoning when adding salt and pepper to this dish.
  • If you want your port sausage to be more cooked, you can add half a glass of boiled water after mixing all the fried ingredients together and let it simmer on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Adding potatoes to port sausages is optional and you can remove it if you want.
  •   You can also use fresh tomato puree or chopped tomatoes instead of tomato paste if you don’t like it.
  • Basically, pepper, spices, and very spicy sauces are used in the preparation of port sausage sandwiches. But how spicy it depends on your taste.
  • You can add some pizza cheese to the port sausage at the end of cooking to make your food taste more delicious.

    I do remember that I once traveled to Iran with my girl friend and we went to south of Iran. the very cute thing we witnessed was the small fast food shops that almost all of then served sosis bandari. the sandwich was really spicy and we enjoyed it.

    I have traveled to iran for about three times and I love the cuisine of this country. they are really delicious. I have tried persian sausage too and I really liked it. the very interesting point is that it actually has not much ingredients and it is like a real full food and spicy of course. I loved it though

    I am from khoozestan. my mother always used to make sosis bandari and she did it perfect. the tomato paste used in it was really delicious. the pepper used in it… I loved the dish! the recipe was much like the one you brought here. I hope you people make it and sure you will love it.
